Interim Senior Financial Accountant (9 month FTC)

As the Interim Senior Financial Accountant, you will assist the team in managing the general ledger in the UK & IRL and ensure it is in line with our accounting policies and IFRS.  Co-ordinate the accounting, treasury, tax return, and VAT processes in the UK & IRL, to ensure compliancy with external regulations and our internal policies and guidelines.  You will work with the Business Controller and Finance Manager to ensure robust future-proof systems are in place.

Day to day:

  • Prepares monthly balance sheet recs and investigates differences needing correction thereby bringing the daily General Ledger and accounting activities to a higher level. Provides resolutions to any issues, and identifies and implements efficiencies.
  • Assists in completion of all month-end process and activities.
  • Assists with preparation of information and supporting documentation for external and internal audits.
  • Prepares financial and tax schedules for regulatory filing.
  • Analyses financial reports and records, making recommendations and/or improvements.
  • Reviews and verifies the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications.
  • Works with the wider team to identify, research and implement policy and process improvements.

Skills and attributes:

  • A self-starter with an organised and structured approach. Prioritises workload to meet multiple deadlines.
  • A task-focused problem solver (from investigation to resolution) who advocates for improvements to processes and policies.
  • Computer literate. Advanced Excel skills (must include pivot tables and formulas etc).  Able to work across multiple IT source systems.
  • Strong communicator: mature in internal and external stakeholder management.
  • Accurate with a keen eye for detail.

Experience and knowledge:

  • CIMA, ACA or ACCA qualified (ideally five years post-qualification).
  • Well versed in reconciliation preparation and analysis.
  • Knowledge of Oracle.
  • Knowledge of Leasing is a distinct advantage.
  • Knowledge of IFRS and statutory accounting.
