Collections & Recovery Senior Collections & Recoveries Officer

Your function

As a Collection & Recovery (C&R) Senior Recovery Officer, you will assist the C&R Manager and/or C&R Team Leader to optimize performance of the portfolio, by providing quality service to our internal and external customers, as well as ensuring risk metrics and controls are adhered to. In your role you will be responsible for Strategy Report preparation and write ups, liaise with debtors and other stakeholders on high-risk customers, with a view to minimize risk costs for the business. This role reports to the C&R Team Leader.

Day to day

  • Identify, develop strategies and resolve problems before they impact DLL and our customers, dealers and/or vendors.
  • Arrange for repossession of equipment in accordance with external law and codes and internal policy and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and third party business partners with the view to minimize loss and mitigate additional risk.
  • Action Strategy Report preparation and write ups in line with policy.
  • Manage the reduction of non-performing loans including development and implementation of collection strategies and appropriate recognition of write-off within delegated authority.
  • Proactive portfolio management reporting, analysis and monitoring.
  • Manage and monitor the C&R portfolio on case level, optimize work processes, and ensure compliance with applicable policies.
  • Ensure excellent customer service is provided to all internal and external stakeholders in both verbal and written communications.
  • Communicate, co-ordinate and liaise with all relevant internal (legal, sales and operations) and external parties (vendors, dealers, advisors, and other creditors) during C&R process.
  • Ensure daily processes are completed and updated procedures are maintained, ensuring procedures are enforced and all tasks are completed in compliance with company policy.
  • Ensure and execute adequate and timely management of the C&R process with more complex (classified) accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external audit and data quality requirements within given timeframes.
  • Provide support and assistance to the team where required and resolve escalated issues.
  • Handling and solving of operational incidents and complaints including identifying root causes of process issues and managing the resolution/remediation in a timely manner.
  • Approval of operational activities within delegated authority.
  • Liaise with Operational Excellence team to identify process improvements.
  • Responsible for monitoring processes and reporting within the ICV system.

Your Profile

  • Experience in banking/vendor finance/leasing in C&R areas, minimum 2 years.
  • Ability to respond or acquire knowledge to respond to internal and external customer requests promptly and correctly.
  • Understanding of documentation, lease products, credit risks and compliance policies.
  • Ability to effectively share knowledge and develop team member skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and responsibility.
  • Good time management with ability to manage conflicting demands and meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional relationship management skills with the ability to identify and meet internal and external customer requirements and effectively manage multiple stakeholders.
  • Ensure a close partnership with the Sales teams to deliver operational capabilities in support of new lending volumes.
  • Strong focus on meeting customer expectations.
  • Ability to champion improvements to systems and processes.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and drive change throughout the organization.
  • Exceptional communication skills (written & verbal).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong ability to share business and risk knowledge with other DLL members, to build a culture of risk management balanced with commercial objectives.
