Day to day:

In this role, you will determine the Risk strategy for DLL in collaboration with the CCO Risk domain. You and your team ensure direct interaction with DLL's Risk departments on group level and in the regions and countries. All Regional CRO’s have a strong functional reporting line towards you. You act as an independent second line (2LOR) of responsibility department, providing risk & compliance governance and framework, challenging & advising on risk taking and monitoring the risk profile and all relevant (financial and non-financial) risk types.

Next to this, you are able to:

  • Serve as member of the CRO MT and Head the COO Risk Team. In addition, you are a member of COO MT and Rabobank MT Credit Risk Management in which you represent DLL’s overall Credit Risk.
  • Successfully lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing COO Risk management team, consisting of the Regional CRO’s, Corporate Scorecard Management 2LOR specialist and Corporate Credit Specialist(s) who functionally oversee(s) the Regional Credit & Recovery Specialists. Promote continuous learning and professional growth to enhance the team's capabilities.
  • Act as a sparring partner for the EB CRO and other EB members and collaborate closely with senior management, CCO (Global Business Unit) Risk, Rabobank Risk and other departments to ensure a cohesive approach to risk management. Represent DLL/DLL Risk in external organizations.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of the long-term risk strategy, ensuring significant strategic impact.
  • Support countries in building profitable portfolios, engage in the Portfolio Optimization cycle to approve their risk costs budgets, while aligning with (DLL, Regional, Country) Risk Appetite Statements.
  • Provide comprehensive support to regions and countries to ensure optimal risk resourcing, and develop next-generation capabilities and skills.
  • Chair the Global Credit Committee, actively participate in various risk or other DLL/Rabobank committees and serve ad Supervisory Board member for DLL France and Nordics.
  • Submit Country / Regions Non-Bank & Financial Institutions applications and overviews to the Global Risk Committee and (above authority) relevant Rabobank committees for approval and communicate the decisions to the respective stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Regional CROs and Corporate Credit Specialists to enhance the processing and decision-making of non-standard complex transactions from a risk perspective.
  • Use delegated authority to approve end-user/dealer applications.
  • Successfully manage Risk projects/programs or participate on behalf of Risk/Group Functions in DLL projects or Rabobank projects.
  • Ensure the timely and properly execution of all risk assessment elements regarding portfolio management, emerging client risks, climate risk and create awareness on Customer Due Diligence, Treat your Customers Fairly (TCF) (in consultation with Compliance).
  • Contribute to the maintenance and monitoring of the Group Risk Policy framework.
  • Monitor the overall quality of DLL’s (Credit) portfolio developments for example in terms of the risk costs, FD’s, NPL’s, RRR’s etc. on an aggregated and regional level and challenge regions to initiate mitigating actions if required.
  • Monitor all credit risk management activities and provide oversight and direction to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the credit application processes.
  • Monitor the quality of the countries and regional risk organizations and initiate enhancements if required also based at operational risk incidents occurred.
  • Make a difference and have impact on all levels by proactively taking the lead and influencing people across the internal and external organization.

Essentials:

  • Master’s degree , e.g. in business economics
  • Excellent (verbal and written) communication skills in English
  • At least 15 years of work experience in an international business environment
  • Minimum of 15 years experience in Risk Management as well in managing financial risks as also non-financial risks
  • Proven credit underwriting experience
  • Business experience in DLL’s line of business with high level of client engagement is preferable
  • Rabobank experience is an asset
  • Excellent track record in creating and leading a high performing team and creating a legacy in an international environment
  • Excellent track record in managing internal and external stakeholder relationships
  • Strong project/program management experience
  • Thought leadership
