Workout & Litigation Specialist

As a Workout & Litigation Specialist, you will be fully accountable to oversee and manage distressed small and large ticket customers no later than 60 days past due, litigation and bankruptcy cases, provisioning, Loan Strategy and Short Strategy Reports (LSR/SSR), and participation in Asset Quality Meetings. The Specialist must effectively liaise with Credit, Commercial, Collections, Operations, field portfolio management, foreclosure, business units and external parties, and must ensure compliance with global C&R policies and guidelines. In this role, you will be responsible for meeting assigned targets, deadlines, and for delivering a positive customer experience.

Day to Day

  • Manage an assigned portfolio in an efficient way and within corporate standards and policies including minimizing risk costs and Non-Performing Loans ('NPL') while maximizing recoveries and cure rates.
  • Support and assist the C&R Lead.  Adjust current practices to align with the ‘new EBA Definition of Default’ way of working by focusing on Early Cure and Early Recovery of delinquent customers.
  • Develop and implement effective workout and collection strategies. Manage bankruptcy and insolvency lawsuits.
  • Determine account strategy and appropriate escalation steps to include assignment to Field Portfolio Managers, third party agencies, or outside counsel.
  • Direct activities related to workout cases and bankruptcies in a manner that ensures DLL’s action and response is in accordance with all laws and internal DLL policies.
  • Negotiate, settle, and remedy accounts in a manner that mitigates risk while maximizing recovery of loss.
  • Manage the provisioning, write-off, and write-down process in accordance with DLL policy and procedure.
  • Direct all after care activities related to DLL’s recovery efforts including third party collection agencies and managing relationships with outside counsel on legal matters.
  • Liaise with Operations, Commercial, and the Risk organization regarding litigation efforts as well as risk management strategies.
  • Responsible for quality and timely completion and reporting of LSR/SSR in adherence with global authorization matrix.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities, with a focus on streamlining and the elimination of unnecessary steps to maximize efficiency and improve results.
  • Support Suspicious Investigation Unit and fraud management activities.
  • Collaborate and participate in cross functional projects and initiatives as required.

Essentials

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in Loss & Recovery and/or Special Loans
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in the financial industry with people management and change management skills
  • Be an authentic leader who lives the values, inspires, and facilitates members to contribute to collective results in a matrixed organization
  • Exceptional demonstrated understanding of financial statement analysis, portfolio management concepts, documentation, and registration/security issues
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, initiate, analyze, and implement business systems, management information systems and business process improvements
  • Proficiency in loan documentation and strong knowledge of local law including bankruptcy
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to manage legal matters through external counsel
  • Bilingualism (French, English) is an asset
  • Experience in leasing/finance a strong asset
  • Excellent negotiation, influencing and problem-solving skills
  • Outstanding communication, business acumen, decision making and leadership skills
  • The ability to make considered decisions and ability to follow through on “tough but necessary” business decisions and requirements
  • Ability to work from home remotely/independently and in a virtual team environment

Applicable pay range:

$102,476 - $153,714

DLL is considering candidates in numerous locations. The pay estimate displayed represents the typical pay range for candidates hired for this position in the desired primary work location. Pay may be adjusted outside the projected range based on geographical differentiation as well as for any other lawful reason. Additional factors that may be used to determine your actual pay include your specific skills, years of relevant experience you possess, and other work-related qualifications. Many candidates may start in the bottom half of the applicable pay range, especially those with less experience or qualification.

This position is subject to the terms of DLL’s compensation plans and policies. Further, the position includes all other benefits provided to DLL employees, including healthcare benefits, pension plan, vacation, sick leave, parental leave, possible discretionary bonuses, and all other benefits that are subject to eligibility.
